Preference shall be given by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Oak Creek, as the appointing authority, to the appointment of a municipal judge, who is admitted to the practice of law in Colorado, but admission to the practice of law in Colorado shall not be a requirement for appointment. The desired candidate will be familiar with the operation of municipal courts in Colorado. The Municipal Judge is an appointed position pursuant to C.R.S. § 13-10-105 and shall meet the required qualifications set forth in C.R.S. § 13-6-203(3). The initial term shall be a two-year term. This position carries no benefits, and the Municipal Court Judge shall be paid $2,400.00 annually, to be remitted in monthly installments, plus an hourly fee to be negotiated for work outside the courtroom. The Municipal Court hears offenses relating to the Oak Creek Municipal Code. Such offenses might include traffic, code enforcement, land use, nuisances, and other misdemeanor violations.
